C1 Bus - Protest against Ken's crazy scheme

29TH NOVEMBER UPDATE - In a recent statement at his weekly Press Conference Ken Livingstone appeared to be backtracking on the C1 bus - he noted that it will need to be looked at "carefully". This follows previous comments when he stated "I think I should make decisions for London."
Watch this space for further updates.

Ken Livingstone has ignored the protests of local residents and is ready to proceed with his crazy scheme to push buses down Blythe Road - in the middle of the Brook Green Home Zone. This plan, which has been opposed by the vast majority of local residents and councillors from the start, will ride roughshod over recent initiatives to curb traffic flows in the residential streets of Brook Green.
Despite the fact that there are four schools in the vicinity, and that a viable alternative route is available, Ken has ignored the findings of his own highly expensive consultation process and is ready to press ahead with the route.
The Council has organised a public meeting to register their displeasure and to achieve one final push to make TfL change their mind.
Join us in the Masbro Centre, Masbro Road London W14 at 7pm on Thursday, 2nd November, to register your protest. Map here

As the owner of a property in Brook Green for 30 years, I am absolutely appalled by the extraordinary suggestion that a bus should be routed along Blythe Road which would completely change the nature of this quiet neighbourhood.

I would appeal to any lawyers in the neighbourhood who might have an idea of how we can block this. TFL have admitted that they have faced legal opposition in the past over this type of proposal. A well organised, carefully thought out threat of legal action might make the difference.

I live on Blythe Road and believe that Tfl's suggestion to route the C1 bus along Blythe Road would be damaging for the road and the neighbourhood in the following ways:

1. It would create additional air pollution. Blythe Road is quite narrow and the regular presence of the C1 bus would cause traffic jams along the road and side streets. This would exacerbate the additional pollution caused by the bus in the first place.

2. It would bring additional noise to a relatively tranquil corner of London.

3. It would be likely to scratch cars along the street due to the narrowness of Blythe Road.

4. It would harm the semi-pedestrianised nature of the road near The Old Parr's Head and make it more difficult for customers to enjoy the pub's front beer garden and walk across the road to the shops.

5. It would pose a danger to young children who are not used to seeing buses racing along the road.

Does Tfl have any arguments to support its proposed course of action?
