SatNav Crime Blitz

Cash-hungry criminals may be turning away from burglary to easier pickings in satellite navigation system theft, a top policeman warned on Monday. Police success in combating burglary was being countered by huge increases in smash-and-grab thefts from cars, mainly fed by desirable, and portable, satellite navigation devices.
A police spokesman said "The satnav is the one thing that is relatively new for us. We are asking people to remove their satnavs from their car and even remove the suckers that attach the satnavs, because we find thieves are breaking into cars if they think there might be a satnav there."
