Labour has selected Andrew Slaughter as its candidate for the new Hammersmith seat at the next General Election.

1. Andrew Francis Slaughter was born 29th September 1960 in London.
2. Slaughter was educated at the University of Exeter
3. He is not married
4. He was previously Leader of the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham Council (1996-2005)
5. He resigned as Leader in 2005.
6. In 2006 the Conservatives won a landslide victory in H&F for the first time since 1969. The Labour group was reduced from 29 Councillors to a mere 13. All three seats in Slaughter’s previous ward were taken by the Tories.
7. He failed in a bid to become MP for Uxbridge in 1997 after a high profile campaign in which Tony Blair became the first Prime Minister in over 30 years to campaign in a by-election. The campaign was overshadowed by a local row to deselect a popular local candidate.
8. Slaughter would eventually gain a seat in Westminster in 2005 as the elected MP for Ealing, Acton and Shepherd's Bush in London.
9. He is a former Labour Party researcher for Michael Meacher.
10.He has never voted against the Labour Government.
